iv lived on the coast all my life.my local spot been sunwichport point.it is such a good spot fished by all the locals.iv made the point as comfortable as possible by putting in rod holders,a big live bait pool and even filled the rocks up with cement to avoid falling while fighting fish.iv moved away from ther now and in the berg at the moment, and my recent visit disipointed me a lot.the rod holders(all made from stainless steel) were smashed closed with rocks and the build in seats were smahed too.the only possible reason could be bored vallie boys.these costs come from the locals wallet and its unfair.stop the litter as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, now guys. Please don't fight. We are a friendly bunch and can resolve problems amicably. Leonard, I can certainly sympathise with your frustration. I think most of us conciencious anglers have experienced similar  problems at some stage. It is really unnecessary for people to inexplicably abuse what others enjoy so much. I think, if I may share my opinion, it may not necessarily be "vaalie boys", although one can't rule out the possibility. We have locals here in the Durban area who indulge in similar irresponsible, selfish behaviour.

Once again, guys, all we can really do is take a stand against these fools. Inform the local authorities when we observe such behaviour. It certainly won't help arguing about it amongst ourselves and pointing fingers at each other.

ps. I'm an ex-vaalie myself, so I know how you guys feel.;)

pps. My mate and I are heading down to North Pier tomorrow morning. I'll be there by sunrise. Who is going to join me?

im not saying that its only the fishermen from the gauteng region but if you stay down here you will see that it is mainly the holidaymakers taking the under size fish home and majority of them are been clamped down on.iv also seen club fishermen from guateng like abie and his wife who are very neat fishermen so its not guateng im speaking in general!but im sure most of you guys know how uncomfortable it is to fish amongst a horrible stinge!

im saying that we should all work together to look after the sea and preserve the marine life for the next generation.

will be fishing from hibberdene area to orange rocks from 26/03/07.any one in that area who wants to go get those reels screaming again call me 0792139603.

tight lines guys

Leonard my bru, I think you're a bit confused china!

In your original message, you say: " the only possible reason could be bored vallie boys".

Now you're saying: "im not saying that its only the fishermen from the gauteng region"...

What exactly are you saying?????

LOL.

But seriously, I know what point you're trying to make and I agree with you. We need to stop ANY ass who is messing it up for everyone else, be it overfishing, littering or breaking stainless steel rod holders.

But do us a favour, don't tarnish an entire province for the sake of it.... I PROMISE you, there are just as many scumbags in KZN abusing our fishing resources as there are scumbags from any other province.

Just my 2c worth.

A proud Vaalie (born in Nay-til).

I see you use a Shimano Exage... which one, the 1468? How old is it? All those sharks you've caught - did you catch them with the Exage??
