&

Shakespeare Two-Piece Medium Heavy Action Ugly Cat Spincating 7-Feet vir die groter babers

&/of die

hey Skuimkop,

I use the salmon steelhead 902xxh and 861 xh(which you refer to) for lures.
Both spinning models.

To be honest its not a berley air and is not for finesse fishing but PERFECT for barbel.

All the guys in the states swear by them for targetting monster blue catfish on lures(50 -100 pounds).

I also have the ugly stik tiger 7ft mh which is a Brute of a rod (6-8) ounce lures. BUT i use this with a penn jigmaster off the boat or for big whole carp baits, its too stiff for lures unless you going to cast a monster jighead or something.

I also have a 6ft med action ugly rod, lots of fun for targetting the smaller(3-7kg) guys. Its the same one in the youtube clip

I use 4000 stradic's on the rods with 14 pound fireline and a 20 lb leader (or heavier if need be)

Hope this helps

Western Accesories in Boksburg,Paid R300 each,Tiger was i think R400.

Give them a call they always have stock and you could probably have them delivered to you.

I know somebody also mentioned Ganis in Witbank has stock, dont know about the price.

My stiks will be in action over the weekend at the vaal river,I will post some pics and a report next week.

I have a fenwick hmg, much better feel then the ugly stik.

Its like a nice BMW where the ugly stik is landcruiser
70 .

Im sure Ryan will also give you some good ideas,I have used a lot of his advice.

Good Luck Anthony

The ugly stik is unbreakable - it has a fiberglass tip.
It is also top heavy which means it is easier for casting and I have to confess I like a "PAP tip"....
Value for money they are really hard to beat - I have one that is 32 years old and still going strong....
I have a 10ft extra heavy ugly stick which I am quite fond of...
Coffee Grinders = Ugly stik

I like a rod that has plenty of backbone Shimano make a crucial 7'6 extra heavy this is a highly sensitive rod but it has proper backbone I use a trini 14 on here or calcutta.
I would choose this over any other outfit for barbel in a baitcaster configiration but they are double the price.

Please remember donot use a Baitcaster reel on a Spinning rod - there will be explosive repercussions if you do...
