Grillerig...

So..
Happily driving along when my attention is drawn to movement about 20cm from my head.. blood pressure goes right up..

Pull over and thinking.. how am I going to get it out? Any movement and she might jump down on me..

So I grab a sunshade from the other side open the window and shoo it out of the car.. ever so gently..

Ja those are Huntsmen, they have a painful bite but are docile and not venomous, still makes a man sweat when they appear close-up like that as they are quite large and can move very quickly.

No harm done, I shoo'ed it out of the car.

We have one living in the sunroom of our house named George, it's probably George the VII'th by now as it's been there since we moved in 9 years ago, the kids love it but no-one dares go near when it appears.

Cool, George the VII..cracked me up..:)
This morning was wildlife central in the lounge, flycatcher at the window, geckos on the wall and a huntsman stalking them..a nest of wasps outside the door in front of the window..and the resident friendly oriole just smashing them, eating the larvae and seeminly unaffected by the angry wasps and very effective at letting them know who's boss. The most beautiful loeries having a complete party in the plum tree, this year I got maybe 3 plums myself. But hey. Sometimes I miss having DSTV and sometimes I don't..

I got up and got out the camera and they were all gone! Shy buggers :)

What are the spiders like in Auz, the snakes are hectic I hear..?

Not too bad where we are, cold winters you see. Further north the dreaded Sydney funnel web spider is deadly, and very aggressive.

Not as many dangerous snakes as in SA far as I know but of course the sea north if Brisbane has all sorts of nasties and salty crocs make swimming out of the question in Darwin and the top end

Boet - at the very same time my O ring will release!

Encountered a rain spider at my house the other day. I was very close to burning the place to the ground and start again!

mmmmm, I have a wife who adores spiders, I'm not allowed to kill them, so we regularly have resident pets.

Those Red Romans are the worst, super quick and aggressive.

Don't think they are classified as a spider though, but I could be wrong.

"Despite the common names, they are neither true scorpions (order Scorpiones) nor true spiders (order Araneae) – though they are more closely related to scorpions than to spiders." according to wiki

Those red romans freak me out.
Can still remember a massive one chasing my mum on the farm till my dad bashed it with a cricket bat.
In the army we would put one in a shoebox and pit them against a scorpion. Made for some fun matches, although the scorpion usually won.
