Lekker dikke daai Diesel. Well done.

Ek weet nie of julle al opgelet het nie maar baie van Bloemhof se groot babers het 'n maerder maag teenoor ander damme se babers van dieselfde grote. Hul koppe is egter lekker groot. Kan iemand dit dalk verduidelik en wat sou dit beteken vir ander damme waar hul pense so vet is?

ek dink dit is a bier pens

It could be due to the abundance of food in the dam and the area  that is travelled to feed .

Just my opinion.

However it is a very good observation.

IMHO Most ''river-cats'' seem to have leaner belly's.It makes their heads look bigger in relation to their bodies(which they probably are). I stand to be totally corrected but it may have to do with the amount of energy spent moving from one place to the next.Swimming in currents may burn more energy,be it for cruising or especially hunting prey, they must use/burn more energy than their still-water counterparts.

Upside is off-course that they seem to jump onto art-lures more agressively in flowing water,(snooze, you lose and your prey is gone downstream)

its the same with other fish species 2... some carps are almost round/oval while others are more built like grass carps... i will also through my weight behind it that it is the surroundings in which it grew up...

Ditto to you Ryan- the Tiger::S),,,,,,,,, ''oom'' nogals.

@Unlimited,sorry if this borders on highjacking, but just briefly.I read somewhere that in a controlled experiment where two groups of Cats were left in huge tanks ,with one tank being fed,, and the other left to ''filter-feed'' ""organisms''etc from the gravel/mud bottom(as they apparently do in winter when ''hibernating") ,there was no significant difference in their weight gains over a period of time (cant remember how long, but pretty sure the clever okes who did it got it right).

The conclusion was that they feed/survive just as efficient, lying in a dried out muddy-pan, ,than when swimming freely.Merely guessing here but bloodworms and all those other funny flick-flacking creatures you find in your fishpond after holidays, etc springs to mind.

My guess would be that the ones lying in the mud/gravel would have bigger belly's and be less streamlined than their more actively swimming counterparts, especially over extended periods of time.

Toe ek daai snap oplaai toe sĂȘ die computer   ''this photo has been uploaded multiple times onto this forum, please go and catch another fish"":fbash
