Hi guys, I am hoping to get into the reserve at 06:00 to dive. Bordjies or Buffels.
I know its late notice, but I know that the tail are around.
I'll keep my eyes on this post until I leave in the am...

The tail is around. Got a couple of them inside the point on Saturday. The schools were going crazy. Hope you get some.

Thanks Stealth, My mates have been nailing them at the Kranz the last few days... Loads of fish, but only a few are keen... Keen or not, I'll put a shot in if I can... Thanks for the report... I'll give a report later tomorrow when I get back...

From what I've heard from the guys, if the school is there and one of them takes the line, you don't pull him immediately. What we did on the boat is let the other guys get their lines in while the one is on, and then start pulling them up in that order. I noticed that the school stays closer when we did that. GL and stywe lyne!

Morning Gents, I went down to have a look and turned around at Smits. There's too much swell for a dive there this morning. I'll go down later and have a look at COGH. I think the swell direction might be more favourable that side.

Hi Ledge.

Glad you guys could hook up. Eckart sent me a private message about diving that area that is why I knew he was keen to go. :)
According to windguru your swell height is between 1.9 and 2.2 meters on Saturday with south to south westerly wind. As I am not a diver so I cannot really say, but those conditions seem OK.
The water was green yesterday and not all that clean.
Of course the wind and currents can change between now and then.

It would be great if someone could cut the weed back a little? :P

I am one of the adrenaline junkies that venture to this spot now and then. LOL

Have fun if you go.

Regards,
BTTB.

He he he...

I heard that the water was quite green on Monday and that a few nice fish came out in the morning...

I've been trying to get down to the ledges, but every time I get there I get an urgent call from a client needing something or other... nothing happening, so I leave. Only to find out that the fish started coming through 30 or so minutes after I leave... Beautiful!

Tight lines mate. Watch out for the difficult individuals... He he he

Hi Ledge.

I think I know who you are now. You had to leave early yesterday for work purposes.
Making a living is more important. You cannot bank adrenaline rushes. ::S

I don't think there are any difficult people, just people high on adrenaline who might say things in the heat of the moment.
Personally I have no problem if someone k@rks me out for throwing on top of the shoal or giving me a bit of advice. Reminds me of my days as a teenager on ski boats learning to catch snoek, tails, bekke with my brother and father or even John Maasch. They would k@rk you out in the spirit of trying to teach you. Heaven help you if you caught John's line in a shoal of fish and with that fear and the need for my own adrenaline rush you made sure you learnt quickly and never caught John's line. At the end of the day when we hit the shore it was all forgotten.

I would rather learn from the "difficult" individuals.

Regards,
BTTB.

Hey guys, I went for a quick look to see what the conditions are like at the point. GRIM!!! That's the only word to describe the diving conditions... I did take a "walk" down to Gifkommetjie. I always forget what a mission it is to go down... The mission up is worse! Way worse than the walk to the Kranz. I was in for 25 minutes. Could have shot a nice Gallie in that time. They move so beautifully in the water. I love watching them. this particular one was size, but in water I could barely fin in. I popped my head up out the water because I could hear some excited Sterretjies... There were hundreds of them working the water about 50m from me so I gunned it out. Cormorants! False alarm... Bummer

Oh well, It doesn't look good for the weekend if it stays like this. I'm thinking of a dive in Soetwater tomorrow around high tide... Water looked dive-able there on my way home... If not, possibly Saturday around high tide.

Cheers,
L

The wind pumped at the point today. It will take a day or so to settle down, just in time before the next blow.
I will hazard a guess there might be a strong current too?
