Catfishing

So we decided to go on friday to get some spawn catfish, man what a dissapointment to get to our venue and didnt see any cats spawning, we had a game plan and unfortenutely had to change it when we saw they werent spawning...
We started sight fishing and it paid of in the morning but couldnt get any double figures...the fishing was very tough and slow for the most of the day until about 16:00 when we started klapping most of the fish.
We were bummed as we were looking to break our PB's and also try to get a fish over the 20KG mark.
Our average fish for the day was a lot bigger than our other trips, but a bit dissapointed with the bigger fish not producing.
My biggest for the day was about 8KG and my friends was 14.9KG...
I really struggled hooking the fish as i was using my normal size live bait hooks i always use, but with the platties we caught was a lot bigger than usual and my hooks were to small my strike rate dropped a lot, i will have to get bigger hooks for the next trip.

All in All a good day out, weather was great fishing was fun but not what we expected about 30 fish was caught!!!

Dis great size vis daai! Ek het al paar GROOT RUNS gehad met kuikens in die Vaal maar was te haastig met die kap. (No10 Mustad Hoek met 2 Kuikens, stok het baie lank gele).

Ek hoop om sulke groot Babers te vang met my volgende outing na die Rivier. Iemand het my vertel dat die Karpe klaar gespawn het hier aan die Vanderbijlpark, maar ek was te min by die water die afgelope tyd op te bevestig.

Loving the steamtrains...just a petty this day was a rough day for me, but hopefully the next trip will be better.
