Witsands (Breede River)

We just got back from a weekend at the Breede River with the Goldschmidt brothers. The weather was great but the fishing was very tough.. We fished mainly with mud prawn as the pink prawn and bloodworm was really hard to come by.

One or 2 small Gruneter were caught by another boat but other than that the Grunter were very scarce.
We managed to get 2x Steenbras out and a few small species but nothing to write home about. In the evening a few small Kob were caught which is a positive showing that the Kob are starting to make their way into the river.
End of Septemeber, early October they usually arrive in full force.

We should be doing another trip up there end of this month or October so hopefully we will have better fishing feedback for you guys wanting to head out there.

i was up there too this weekend but opposite to witsands. We were shore fishing, wading into waist height water and throwing mudprawn on light tackle. Got a lot of white steenbras, just under size, and a blacktail on Saturday. Saw some guy catch a really nice grunter of about 4kg. On sunday tried again to two nice grunter and a few undersize whites. All good fun on light tackle.

Sat morning we tried at the mouth and got a few nice shad as the tide was almost out.
