which is stronger more abrasion resistant and which line would be the best allround nylon to use for all aspects of fishing.

Hey riymos..here's my personal experience with monofilament line...when i first started fishing i put on kingfisher giant abrasion because off cost an off my massive birdsnests..lol!! after graduating onto better reels i continued an found that if the giant abrasion got a little stretched then the knot ability dropped badly..there after moved onto okuma platinum..proved extremely strong but i felt it didn't peel off the spool that well..then got sponsored a spool off daiwa tournment in 0.47 diam..lets jus say its prob the most extraordinary line i have ever experienced..for pure strength vs diameter it still is unbeatable..its abrasion resistance is excellent an casting is topdrawer! Sadly my one reel got sold with the line an the other i removed because i decided to go smaller diameter for edibles...but i still took the old line back an got it kept jus incase! Surprising thing is i inspected it for grazing an there is non after 10 months off use! Now i am trying siglon in 0.40 diameter an only got a few test casts with...seems to be good quality though..but time will tell!!! Thats basically all i can share with the members..anyone else got some experiences?

Btw...i cant remember where i read it but it went something like this..."its no good having a R3000 reel an a R3000 rod with all the best hooks if your got a 5cent quality line on it...because then u got a 5cent outfit!!! "...it makes for interesting thinking...

Hey there, I currently fish with Diawa Tournament..... An ure right there buddy....you just dont get a better line. For me its the casting aspect, for us up here, distance at most times counts and DT helps with its supple and clean peeling qualities. Siglon is an all time favourite for rocks and heavy fishing. I find the line a lil "hard" which makes it perfect for targeting sharks etc. My choice would be DT for surf and Siglon for Rock. Just my 2 Pennies

Howzit Volcom Interesting what you say am i right in saying that you feel siglon is a better rock fishing line. If so please tell me the advantages of it compared to dx i have always thought siglon was more a surf line it didnt offer me to much abrasiveness also i found to have an unusual amount of stretch in it. Sometimes when getting stuck if i broke my line the line would strech and coil up and even when using it for along time it tendered to always twist and curl and on some occations even curl around my trace. I could be wrong but i would love to know so i could definately take your advice and change.As for daiwa i also agree it is a good line just to expensive to keep chaging.. Maybe Ill keep my 5cents outfit with 5 cents line it seems to work for me most times and when i do fish comps the hey maybe the ill get the expensive stuff why waste when what works then go with what works sometimes the more expensive it is the more attractive it becomes. i have used Suffix, Silstar, Maxima and now i am currently using Kingfisher D/abrasion15.9kg on both my Speed master and Torium 30 reels and thus far have not had a problem with the line. its very abrasion resistant and has not failed me yet. my 30c

On this subject, I was doing a few calculations as to the costs of line and I came up with some interesting things - it seems as if Siglon is almost DOUBLE cost of Double x and 4x the cost of Kingfisher Giant Abr!!!!... but I'm not comparing the exact same diameters, so I need to actually do some proper sums here.... So anyone who bought line recently.... list the make and cost for me, along with the diameter, breaking strain and amount of line. I'll put it all together in a spreadsheet for economic puropses... should be interesting. eg: ANDE - Monofil/Leader/Fluorocarbon/Braid; - .60 mm; 40lb; Paid R50 for 46m
