I'm working on it. Got some blanks in mind and I have just sourced the interline guides needed to build the rod.

Will post as soon as we're up and away with the rod.

There will be different options.

We're looking at a Blue Marlin slimline T24 possibly a 400/4 and a Purglas CQ 4000 and possibly the Purglas 400/4.

3 Different diameters and 3 different line ratings with the PG400/4 the most powerful

All will be a lot stronger than the Sensation rod currently available

Cost? scared to hazard a gues as it may take 2 blanks to make a proper, proper telescopic but a part telescopic will be easier with the other types.

hey guys, please forgive me if this is a very stupid question, i've never targeted catfish before, but i'm really fascinated by this whole roepstok thing....

now i've seen how it's done and i understand the mechanics of the rod and all that, but is there really no way you could use an ordinary rod for the same purpose? i know the rod's designed that way to prevent the line cutting off on the tip guide (or so i'm told anyway), but surely there are ways of using an ordinary rod for the same purpose and still prevent the line from getting cut off?

SO many guys have tried

the lure hangs below the tip and the water is really aggitated and with normal guides the braid will tangle and the result is broken line, straightened hooks or broken rod tip.

Contrary to popular belief this wasn't a skilled learnt and unique to South Africa it has been developed and used in Europe with the Wels catfish for almost a hundred years already

And the same old technique called "jiggerpoling" in the USA was used for Bass! See: http://books.google.co.za/books?id=3btYCspbBUUC&pg=PA340&lpg=PA340&dq=jiggerpoling+bass&source=bl&ots=tGPLAzb7dP&sig=cSlTec3OMrrXWJFbj_DEUHZoty0&hl=en&ei=bxIfTIXtJYyi0gSY2PGtDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CB4Q6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=jiggerpoling%20bass&f=false

So there's really nothing new under the sun! :SSS

ok fair enough. was just wondering really. i don't think i'll be going out targeting catfish any time soon anyway, but it's interesting nonetheless. i like reading some of the threads in the catfish section, it's always interesting.

::tclaph
