Drop_shot

Hi Guys, I am going out to Richards Bay this coming weekend.
It will be my first boating trip in the bay. I will be staying at Mzingazi Waterfront.

Any tips, waypoints etc as to where to fish and what bait will be most welcomed.

Thanks
DS

Thanks PoolBoy

I am looking for spots only in the harbour....I dont want to go out to sea.

Drop_Shot... how did you make out?

I used to fish the right hand side of he canal, about 1 km in from the mouth, just before it opens into the harbor itself ( difficult to explain, but between the island)  , anchor there ,and drift a sard.. was good for the odd Daga hanging around...:wfish

Good Luck with getting co-ordinates. I have found that these come few and far between whether on Sealine or from the boys on the water. If you do get them and they pan out be sure to buy the dude a beer or 6!^^..

Good Day,

Just a question, do you need a fishing license in Richards bay?

Hi Sonja, YES you do, and don't get caught without it.
If you using a boat, the boat also needs to have a COF and you need a Skippers license.

Fishing from the boat is excellent towards the South Pier just before the opening to the harbor you can fish near the 'red' buoy.

I found that ground to be very productive with Red's, Grunter and Shad.

I stayed there a couple of years ago, awesome place... I know u looking for harbour spots, i used to fish right in front of the resort, the mzingazi side there is a little jetty that sticks out across the way from the yacht mole, had some good pulls there, friend caught a 2-3kg stumpie, another guy had a big pull, took him almost out of the yacht mole, dunno what it was cos his leader was too lite, so it snapped off.

Great fishing at night... We were using dead glassies, 2-3 on a hook when he had that pull.

Good luck.

Hi Rich - I live in Richards Bay. Looking for coords for the Petinga wreck?

Well, you are in luck -(1)  28 56 850 ; 32 03 151 - (2) 28 57 450 ; 32 00 200 - (3) 28 57 650 ; 32 02 560 - (4) 28 57 680 ; 32 03 600.

Once you get there, sound around - you will see the wreck - it is big - so therefore I gave you a couple of spots around the wreck. Beware to anchor to close - your anchor will be "donated" to the wreck.

Good afternoon

my name is wessel,I recently did my skippers license at sudwana and did buy a boat together with my dad. We want to start fishing harbors and deep sea.
we are based inland(secunda) so richardsbay is the closest to us.im doing some research on places tackle needed ex and came across your post of spots around richardsbay.

I would like to ask if I can please share in your knowledge of spots and coordinate if you let me?

we will only be doing fishing recreationally and just for us as n family, we will maybe only get time to visit the area around twice a year so would be a real blessing if we could get there and be into some fish the short time we spend there.

kind regard
wessel

Good evening,

Your post on sealine state you have 450 coordinations for Richardsbay.
Would you please be so kind and mail me a copy?
Marius.cilliers@sarens.com
Mariuscillies@yahoo.com

Would then also like to ask which spots you consider best for game fish
Dorado, king and queen macrel, yellowfin tuna etc.

Perhaps you could also advise on what to fish for at what time of the year.

Kind regards

Marius
