Is that R35 per person per day? Or per night?
The river looks very shallow there??
Looks like you can cast over it... hehe

R35 per person per day. But as I say it might have changed by now. The river is surprisingly deep, when it is low there is an instant drop at some spots as you wade in. When low, one could possibly cast over the river, but man... then the fishing is good there. At this stage it is quite full and must be at least over 120m broad at most.

In summer, along with the rain comes the mud and can be difficult to negotiate, but yet again... then the fishing is just supreme.

There are shallow banks to the far left and just to the right of the ablution area, but nevertheless I have caught fish along the entire stretch.

Very Nice!

I've always wondered why (in my experience) catches at the Vaal River average bigger than in the Dam...?

I usually dont aim for the middle when fishing the river, a friend told me once that the fish dont like the stronger current towards the middle, so I try to find a spot that's not too close to the bank but not too close to the center either.

Fishing downstream below Barrage has not been quite the same since the floods, (although I have caught some nice 3 - 4 kg boys at Wesvaal, but rather slow tempo) but seems it's still rocking around the area of Villiers....mm...think Im gonna make my way up there soon....

Hi Guys,

I am going to Aqua this weekend and I will be sure to share the results.  It should be quite good fishing.  I am predicting that the smaller specimens won't be as active but we'll have to see what we can haul out. The plan is to try out a few of my own bol dips and floaties that I have created. I am a conventional fisherman but do like to try the odd specimen trip too.  Not much of a boilie person persay because I like using natural baits. So I will put out a hair rig with some maples. See what happens!!!

Just a pitty Hookandsinker won't be able to join.  Anyone else wishing to come through is welcome. Call me 0828288646 the more the merrier!!!

If anyone could possibly help me, I've struggled for ages to find a good spot for Bream/Kurper

Try Vasfontein (Kurperfontein) outside Pta on the old Warmbath's road, there is plenty of Kurper, on float, spinners, fly and rapala's....

hookandsinker wrote: I rate Aqua Via to be one of the best Vaal Destinations. I thought I'd post a few pics of some carp I have picked up there. These are only but a few, but some beautiful specimens. On a good weekend between 3 friends and I, landing up to and over 60 fish is normal, and ranging between 2kg to 10kg in size. We support  catch and release, so all the fish are released.

I will post some more pics soon of other species caught at Aqua. I'll gladly share any info on Aqua and what I use there if anyone wants to know.

Tight lines Sealiners!!!

Hey hookandsinker

Planning to vsist Aqua end of November. How busy does it get there, stands available for fishing etc. Can one book or do you just pitch up and hope to get a stand? Would arrive on Friday probably 16h00-17h00.

Cheers

Howzit.

I'd say if you arrived on a Friday you should be able to get a place quite easily. Was there two weekends ago. Fishing was good, largest fish landed by my buddy, 7kg carp. We sat on the left shore just before the river splits.

Enjoy

I personally do not like the venue, fished a comp to the right towards the dam and caught one small fish the Sunday.
