Net gewonder of daar al nuwe idees is?

Looked at this concept for walking the long plaat. I tried converting a Turfmaster golf trolley. Centre of gravity too high, front to back balance wrong causing ergonomic problems with pulling it. Fine on hard low tide but a mission on soft sand. Looked at the ezzy wheel....just too expensive with my budget.

Took 20" old kids bicycle wheels, bought new cones and bearings R60. Had 2 10mm new s/steel axle stubs made, got a 20mm s/steel axle, machined holes in either end to take the wheel stub axles, s/steel grub screws to lock. 2 stubs and main axle R600. Plastic crate from Plastics for Africa R240. Some square tubing. My handle and wheels are detachable. Tested it on Kanon beach all the way to Fonteintjie....3 times. For the price, it works well and relatively easy in soft sand. If wind is blowing head on, I lay the rods flat.....too much drag by the wind. If I had the buck.....I would only go for the balloon wheels by Ezzy wheel.....but last price I got was R1500 per wheel.

Made my cart cheap and light , works great on the sand , I've walked many kilometers with mine and can't rust got ally rims with s/s spokes.
I even leave it out in the rain LOL

is carrying a lot of tackle like sinkers, hooks etc to a spot and burying it where only you know perhaps an option..especially if its a spot you fish a lot but out the way

2 or 3 ice cream tubs or 1 x 5l should suffice or what?

next time you just need your rod, food, camera etc and maybe some extra clothing..shouldn't be that heavy :)

but those are some nice beach trolleys t(((up((

n ander baie interessante aspek!

Ek het gese nooit in my lewe sukkel ek weer so nie en het toe weer my alu rugsak begin gebruik.

Lig.........

Opvoubaar.....

Drie wiele om gewig te versprei...(Drie wiel golf karretjies stoot/trek baie makliker as die twee wiel tipe en stoot is baie beter as trek :) )

Redelike groot wiele (dalk breer bande op sit)

http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-prams-strollers/newlands/baby-jogger-pram/1001422126210910188870509

PI

I have the berkely beach cart Jumbo, the one with 8 rod holders. Works amazing! just the thicker sand cause ALITTLE more resistances.

I am planing on getting the BUmba wheels for it

Hi

Further up in the thread you will see pictures of my trolley with bicycle wheels. This worked OK....but I decided to make my own balloon tyres as Ezi Wheel was too expensive for me. I looked at using a quad bike front tyre inner tube at medium inflation. To make the custom rims, I used 6mm nylon sheeting...sandwiched and glued 3 layers of Isotherm insulation together for the center core....bolted the whole lot together with 8mm stainless bolts....used a rough hand file and palm grinder to profile out the insulation in the rim, so the inner tube would sit snug. Used aluminium block bearings either side with a 10mm stainless shaft as axel.I have a 20mm cross axel under the plastic crate with 10mm holes drilled to insert the wheel stubby axle.....so I can dismantle the cart. Tapped stainless grub screws in to lock wheels in place on the main 20mm cross shaft.

Psy, get hold of Theo at Tj's..not sure on prices and can't find anything online? but he was developing a local wheel for the task..Solid and light but soft and wide for sand..saw the advert sometime back..
