Where can i get some of these?

I know u catch them after some rains, but is there someone that sells them? Maybe a pet shop as feed for the bearded dragons?

I doubt it...

I heard you can freeze them and use them at a later stage.

Does anyone know how long they stay alive for once caught?

Dont know where you can get them I always catch them after the rain.

But they stay alive for +- 6hours.

Just put them in a plastic bag and freeze them.Doesnt need maize or that stuff.

Hi folks - some years ago I saw a simply trap for catching flying ants "on masse" using a up turned bucket & water - ANYONE KNOW the design?

Waterproof torch in bottom of bucket with water. If they're flying after dark you'll get loads, be sure to empty the ants frequently or they will get out. Keep them in the fridge they will hold overnight and come alive once they get warm. Can be frozen for a few weeks. Fantastic bait. Yellows and cats can't leave them alone.
Heard some people used to eat them?

Are you maybe talking about Flying termites - where their 4 big wings falls of shortly after ?
That is killer bait for trout - that I know (one termite - one trout )  , I would say Yellow would also go crazy on it.

Also if you ever see mole cricket fly into your patio at evening  catch him and put him within worms.
It is also a great bait .

Flying ants or “piempies” as we called them can last for a couple of days in the fridge, just dont over-crowd your container. Once you take then out of the fridge they become lively again. I find that they become soggy if frozen for too long...
A W E S O M E B A I T for yellows!!!
