Peterj, maybe one should propose a daily/weekly rod licence for such occasions? Im sure that would keep the costs down a bit.

I for one am im favor of the new fees. Even though i will be paying something like:

R500 kreef
R300 Spear
R400 fishing, fresh and salt
R500 Boat
R400 CPS rivers and dams
R2/300 Mollusc

= R2500 divided by 70/80 days on the water per year

= +-R30 per day

As long as the funds are used to put transgressors behind bars and keep it so that there is something for me to catch when i do go out, im a happy chappie!

well , maybe some can afford 2500 for permits, I think you seriously need some help.
Anyone who is willing to fund miss Sonjica and her assistants two brand new cars which by the way cost over a million, are just plain mad. the problem is that the funds we have been paying have not been used to police our waters properly, what makes you  think that these huge increases are going to make a difference.
Even though everyone has written their letters of complaint I dont think this will make a diff at all, youknow why?? .... Because MCM has just purchased a whole fleet of vehicles including 4*4's etc.etc in a horrible pea soup diarrhoea colour to drive their lard ass officers around in . the value of this fleet is estimated at around 6 million rand ,which they have spent, and the only way that they can curb their already bankrupt department is by forcing the increases on us.
sorry to sound so harsh but I honestly think that anyone who is wiiling to pay these kind of tarrifs has to much money on their hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no way im renewing my license. Its totally ridicules. I mean, i only get time to fish around 3 or 4 times a year. Why must we now get punished because of transgressors? If they steal perlemoen, then shoot them...

Well judging from your avatar Im glad youre not my graphic designer.
I think that guy is just expressing his own indivuality and I dont have a problem with that, and I've seen alot worse demonic stuff here. Personally any woman fishers that are keen on sticking their hands in any siff bait on the beach shouldn't care about  avatars like that. I mean just look at olivia johnsons avatar ,She looks like she 's posing for the next stywe lywe mag.
UNCOOL. And if I was a newbie on the forum I woudn't feel welcome at all after a rude post like that. Shame on you.

You would do well to read my post again.

Obviously no one wants to pay these huge licensing fees, but it is inevitable. As I said before, as long as the funds are used properly, to reduce poaching and to keep fish numbers up, im all for it.

Hi Fishwisperer, I don't mean to attack you or anyone of our buddies on Sealine...but what I'm trying to get across here is that maybe you can afford R2500 for your permits ...there's no way in hell I can . I fish 5 or 6 times a year if I'm lucky and I practice catch and release. there are thousands in my position....if the hike goes ahead thousands of us will not be able to pay anyway, even if there is correct administration of the funds.....we just cannot afford them....and that's that.
Sorry if I upset you...it was not meant that way...

Don't change it.

If we change everything that might offend some sensitive soul, then there will be no fun left.

Heck Gallieman, I don't know how you can even liken OJ Symcox and Sound24's avatars. Sound24's avatar is pretty gross (not knocking it Sound but it is pretty gross) and then OJ who I think looks pretty good in her avatar...

The thread was about license fees not about whos got the nicest avatar.
So theoretically I was not dissing anyones avatar, merely biting back at the moaner!!
P.s. no offence to OJ, I woudnt mind seeing her hold up a 25 kilo kingfish or something

Haha, spot on there Angus!!
And none of those children will ever need a spearo licence, because black people don't dive!! Make your own conclusions.

From what I see on riverbanks and shorelines, 98% of licences are held by law abiding white citizins who mostly keep to size limits, and are more likey to conserve by catching and releasing!! Most other take 20cm Steenbras in bag loads out of estuaries. They have no idea on size/bag limits and nor do they care!!

Until a credible MCM unit is put into place to
  • Check anglers licences
  • Inforce/confiscate equipment and press charges
I believe that any fee is a total waste of your money!

Excuse me, but that is totally uncalled for.I cant believe the admin has not deleted this message or handed out a warning.

This is blatant racism.

So if you are white you obey all laws.So what made you come to the conclusion that 98% of licence holders are law abiding white citizens.

I'm sorry but I have had white people ask me to check out if there is an inspector coming.

I am totally disgusted by this.

Member has been warned. We urge members to guard against sweeping generalizations and racist comments!
