Barbel Rods

Guys I've read some of the articles here and I'm worked up for more & bigger cats...

Ok now here's my dilemma: I fish a 2pce 3lb tc spod rod - just can't get to the name. Ok since I also use it for Specimen Carp I'd like to get a specific rod for barbel which I can cast with and that can cast a decent sized bait - preferably 2 piece.

I use Daiwa Jupiter z 6000 big pit reels & its never let me down so far. I don't want a cumbersome rod but something comfortable and I can use on the bank with power etc...

U guys mention Purglass, Greys-( I have 3lb tc for specimen carp), Shakespeare ugly stick etc...

Come on guys - all help is appreciated greatly.

Sorry I can't view the pic's - but I'll take your word for it -
Just got a price on an Ugly Stick for 430 - but its 9ft xh - 15 to 40lb max

Is that decent enough ???

Guys I'm gonna have a look at the rods today - what braid & breaking strain would U recommend -

I know I'm asking a lot of questions but hey U must understand - I want a big cat soon.

I don't do braid personally not enough stretch and the Knots fail on the strike.

Berkely big game 15lb mono.

My choice...

Ive got 50lb spiderwire camo braid and very happy with it.

20lb berkley big game is .40mm so that is thick but will have reasonable abrasion resistance

I must add that i dont strike profusely (But then again I am a PAP- Gooier), i just give tension and set the hooks lightly, they normally hoom themselves on the braid
