joining braid with the braid splice

hi to all the knot gurus,
i have just used this splice to join braid topshot to backing by splicing both pieces into one another (on an overhead jigging reel). seems to be pretty strong when i pull on it - is there any reason this would not work?
thanks sparky

will work great.... in the old days 1960 - blue fin days in false bay all the double lines in dacron were spliced . just make sure its a long splice {the splices were 12 ft long} as it acts like a chinese bangle the harder you pull the tighter it gets and the more slack you give it the looser it becomes .

here is a pic of the join- sorry for poor quality -can't really work the micro setting on the camera, but think you can get the idea.

mark, i hope i have done the splices long enough. the join is only about 20cm long with each piece of braid spliced into the other about 12 times?

will try go down to kingfisher and test the join on their machine some time soon.

thanks all, sparky.
