wow that movie makes me bleek... its so sad to get reminded that there are people out there who do that, i just wish i could do something from a personal level!
We see this in and around PE all the time.. Not the finning, but killing of sharks for commercial gain. These are guys that have full time jobs at big companies and certainly do not do it to support their families.
The necessary authorities could not care less and if I have to take it upon myself and start kicking ass I become the criminal.
To see this makes me get very aggressive!
It is really true what they say.. Ignorance is bliss.. Out of sight, out of mind. But we need to be reminded! As a famous man once said, "Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and I'm all outa gum!" :X

@ TonyIf we are going to "protect" the sharks, what about protecting the millions of Cows, Sheep, pigs and chickens we kill daily?

We can control the populations of above mentioned without difficulty, we cannot control the population of sea species at all, we need a billion submarines to patrol the waters and count sharks, and fish and other mammals ………sorry we need 100 submarines to count the shark in the next 10 years or so……..horror-struck I tell you.[/i]

They talk about how many people are killed by sharks in a year. What about the millions of people (yes, unborn babies are also people) being killed by their mothers in abortion clinics? I know we cannot solve all the problems in the world, but I know that if everybody sweeps in front of their own yard, the world will already be a cleaner place.

Why not start a Sealine Shark Conservation Club. We could hold a yearly fundraiser competition and proceeds could be donated to groups like Shark Spotters, SA White Shark Research Institute and SA Shark Conservancy. I know from personal experience that the biggest issue with these organisations is funding.
Have a few stickers made for cars etc... maybe have "Shark Conservation" as a permanent topic. Educational papers etc...could be posted here. I am sure the above groups would be more than happy to post info there.
Would be an awesome gesture for an angling forum to make a personal mission of supporting groups like this...
