Rondevlei is a nature reserve and u must make a booking to fish there, there is also an island with a hut on it, if u want to spend the night

Hi Stuart,

As OH mentioned Rondevlei is is a nice place to fish for some decent carp, to fish the island contact 021-706 0842, if you wish to fish the day session platforms from the side you justr pay a fee (R36) at the entrance.

Jsut be warned there are hippos in the vlei so wading out far from the platforms is not safe, you can net your fish safely in the water but do not wade out too far from the jetty's.

All style of bait presentation produces nice fish e.g. floaties, boilies, particles etc - lately a lot of smaller fish has come through the ranks so try and present bigger baits that will = bigger fish.

tight lines

Johan

Hi I also struggled to get going with the fresh water in CT. I have started moving over to sea fishing(even more frustrating but O so rewarding at tomes)  I am curious about the fishing spot in Contermanskloof.  I live in Goodwood and always looking for a fishing spot close by to take family for afternoon.  Two small boys to entertain.  Good luck at Thee Waters

Hey NewBlood,

Contermanskloof is not good for the family mate. The damn has a small casting area and bee hives all over the place mate.

You could try hillcrest wine estate, they have loverly toilet and braai facilities. The fishing is not so great but you are guaranteed to pull out some lovely trout mate. There are also bass and Carp in the damn.

I think you pay R75 per person fishing and R25 per person not fishing.

Let me know if you need more info mate.

Tight-Lines.
