Barbel in Hartebeespoort Dam

Hi guys

please could you help me out  wat kinda bait do the barbel in harties eat and at wat time of the day should i be fishing for them during August? going down tomorow evening i wouldnt mind catching a couple of the beasts

doogs this time of the year I think is the best for barbel ,we used to catch them on fly and small jointed lures in the shallows. You should be able to see them surfacing

Things are starting to warm up so they should be starting to move a little more. If your fishing fly then half chicken always works if not your options are open. If you drive over the dam wall and look down on your right you will see a big pool great for barbel and carp and in the river at the bottom plenty yellows. Go through tunnel at 4 way turn right and just past resort you enter on dirt road you will need to walk up the river to the pond.
