Fished the Lydenburg area two weeks ago. Orange flies supposed to work but didn't. Majority of fish caught on brown Dragon Buggers.

Also emergers IN the surface. And then when they are not feeding - aggravate them Mickey Finn !!!

What everyone has said is spot on but keep an beady eye on the banks as the fish are in spawning mode and will be cruising the banks and inlets.
Tight lines :wfish

See if you can find some dragons tied in black or even better with peacock herl. If not, a black woolly bugger or "Speed Cop" should do the trick. Don't be afraid to fish these flies with a New zealand type rig (in the dam) using a small Flashback nymph on the point.

Big Streamers = Big Mrs Simpsons / Zonkers / big wolly buggers etc
I fished Belfast 2 weeks ago and the pattern was Egg Patterns fished deep and slow followed closely by the red eyed damsels and Dragons

Dragon Bugger is basically a dragon fly pattern such as a Lake Dragon with the maraboe tail as found on Wooly Buggers - hence Dragon Bugger.

The colour combination of silver body with yellow and orange wing on the Mickey Finn is known to aggravate trout!!

Another good aggravator is the Pangora Woolly Worm. Green/black body with a orange and red maraboe tail. Grizzly hackle and beadhead. This fly has the reputation of fooling big fish.

Cougar I could be wrong but think Zambezi is its more likely referring to a pancora woolly worm. I have never heard of a pangora woolly bugger. If memory serves me correctly it was the fly responsible for the old SA record fish taken in Swartwater. 8.215Kg's or something.

Hope that helps.
