My Colts been bored out to 4 liter so no problem with power in the soft sand but the electronics have given some problems with moisture. Boat & trailer is 2,3 Ton. I also have a 3,5 liter Pajero that I use if I have to.

Foxhat ...
Honestly , never used mine to beach launch as we use our F200 out of richards bay harbour and durban harbour ...

However though ... Family of ours have a F200 aswell as the F2406 , which is a mammoth with 250 yamahas on the back , and they beach luanch out of vidal/st.lucia aswell as mozambique ..
The 4wheel drive on the amarok is second to none bud , i would know as we have hade all the bakkies and nothing competes :)

Obviously stepping on the toes of the hilux boys here , but its my opinion that you CANNOT go wrong with the amarok!;)

Just in case he is offline, its 3.5t.
Off course towing weight is restricted to the Tare of the vehicle, which is probably about 2.3t for that cruiser.

The 4,2L version is only 1,5t. Its only the V8 that's 3.5t

I hope not... That thing is ugly! Suppose that is typical Toyota these days. The only half decent looking car they have, they had help from Suburu. Everything elsy looks worse than the predecessors.

Make no mistake, the Landy was good also 3500kg towing rating... but I wanted something newer.

I've been drooling over the RAM for months now and have looked at a couple. What's held me back is that you reliant on one agent in one town for service and spares. I found that most of them available in SA are well priced but the maintenance requirement is high & expensive. I assume you know about the catalytic converter service and so on.

WOW  now that's power, That is where SA sadly falls short of the Americans, no 3,2Ranger, Amarok, V6 Navara, V8 Cruiser or anything can match that kind of pulling power I'm guessing it's and Auto 4WD with a nice Low Range capable of beach launching the Titanic::respekt:

I know maintaining it must be costly affair BUT I think I could endure it
