Gremlin Products cc has been situated in Margate for the past 61 years and has been rod building since day 1. Over these 6 decades Gremlins has acquired vast knowledge in the art of rod building. In 1995 Gremlins was handed down from founding member Rodney Gavin to son and current member Rob Gavin.

The year 2000 saw the launch of the Pentagon range comprising of multiple piece fishing rods. This era also saw the introduction of colours to graphite fishing rods, allowing the angler a more personal touch to his /her custom built fishing rod. Since then Gremlins has come up with some revolutionary colours and designs, with regard to their spray painting. The new snake skin flash and the fading effect where one colour into the other has proven to be very popular.

In 2004 High Modulus Graphite (HMG) was introduced, the new concept took the market like a fish takes to water. It allowed for more pulling power and greater casting distances. With the Pentagon range being built in HMG things really started to sizzle. Anglers were now able to handle far bigger fish with much less effort than before.

Recently the idea of the T-Flex single piece blank was released by Blue Marlin Fishing Blanks. This rod gives a similar action to a multiple piece rod but with more tip action and more strength in the base. This effect is achieved by building the blank with HMG graphite in the base and STD T24 graphite towards the tip. One can only imagine what’s to come in the near future……..

The Pentagon Medium HMG is an extremely versatile and exciting combination of a fishing rod. The rod consisting of a base, mid-section and 3 tips (light, medium, heavy) was originally started off as STD T24 graphite. It has now however become extremely popular in HMG and is able to handle most large fish. The HMG model throws between a 5 to 8oz sinkers. The total length of the rod is 13’8” making it more manageable for most anglers.

Realizing that the HMG Mediums’ base could withstand far more pressure than that of the mid-section and heavy tip Gremlins came up with the Medium Shark Extreme mid-section and tip. Both mid-section and tip fit into the Mediums’ base bringing it to a total length of 13’2”, this allows the angler to throw anything from a 9oz to a 12oz sinker. And if that’s not good enough we have also introduced a shorter base bringing its total length  to 12’8”, this makes it more than capable of swimming larger baits for bigger sharks.
