A view from the top where you pour the lead in.

these mouls are not made by me but imported from the USA.

I have had so many enquiries about bottle sinker moulds that I got a supplier for them.

Hi Dup, Thanks once again for all the info you so freely impart. I have another question or 2 for you: -
1) You said you use mig steel welding rods for the wire that sticks out of the top of the sinker. I went to the local Afrox guys and they only sell this by the roll (18kg's at about R19-00 per kg). 18kg's will last me a life time! This was for the cheaper copper coated as opposed to the chromed / stainless. Does this sound about right? And how do you get yours to have such a perfect loop at the top (the perfectionist in me get frustrated when I can't do the same!!)
2) What wire do you use in the moulds to make the holes for the spring steel to fit into? (with some of our older moulds, the wires have disappeared over the years)

Thanks

Ian F

Hi Ian

The wires i use for the top part is 309 tig rods 1.6mm they should sell them in kg bundles.

here is a few places you could try to get the rods.

Unique Welding in Vereeniging and Boksburg

Maxweld and Braise in Benoni

AS for the ring on top mail me and i will mail you a step by step guide of how to make that ring.

As for the dummy wires for the moulds I'm using the very same 309 tig rods 2.4mm.

that will be to thick for your old moulds so check if you can get a thinner guage for the old moulds i think they used to run on 1.4mm. or you just drill the holes bigger to fit the thicker guage wires.

these tig rods should only be used for the top ends of your sinker as they don't have spring for the grapnel part of the sinker.

Thanks

Dup.
