Hi Slater , Initially to get the rod apart i wud suggest some hot water ...to try & get the rod apart ... i have also seen guys shake their rod vigourously ... to break the build up so that it will make teh rod easier to take apart !!! There after when assembling the rod you can use ther pesperation from your nose ..wipe on to rod before putting together ... I have herd guys saying that you can use Mr Min or even cadle wax !!! Good luk , hope this helps !!!

Here is a way that DEFINATELY works 8 pieces of wood 1cmx1cmx10cm-15cm a roll of masking tape put masking tape around rod (just next to joint), about 4 turns - DON'T TEAR IT OFF, now put one piece of wood and tape that in place and continue till all 4 are around the 1 side of the joing do exactly the same on the other side now twist and turn problem solved tip shown to me by Chad Alcock

It is strong enough, put it this way, we did it to seperate the 2 pieces of my shimano jigging rod - SHE WAS SERIOUSLY STUCK a rough drawing to explain the tape just keeps the wooden pieces in place and the wood gives you something to hold onto. Jip hooked that will work, the solution to the problem is GRIP you need "something" to hold on to

The other way is to get 2 guys pulling the 2 pieces and a 3rd standing in the middle gently bouncing the rod at the join. The worst thing to do is to twist the pieces as the graphite is placed under unnatural stress...

sand the male piece very lightly with very fine sand paper. little bit at a time until the male and female fits tight but male comes out without any problems. a trick Carcharias showed me is to rub the palm of you hand over your forehead then onto the male piece before insertion. also works like a charm.

A great friend of mine had the same problem. Just could not get the pieces out, about hour later after just about the whole club tried to get this loose he mentioned over his brandy with a slight grin that the oaks should be carefull not to break his one piece.
