Caught in Southern Oman on a 180 gram Cubera with a Carpenter Monster Hunter 100lbs braid We figured about 54 kilos he measured 139cm so ORI puts it at 52 but he was a pig of a fish. Darryls fish was the same length but was a fair bit heavier. Last edited on Wed Feb 15th, 2012 05:11 pm by Cam Mundy |

Amasing fish, and well done to the guys landing these beasts. Just a silly question, that yellow tail in the pics, are they the same ones we get in the eastern cape?

Thanks Neps. I can not imagine what it would feel like hooking a goon of that size. My biggest one was 17kg and it gave me a rev of note.

Here is another STonker Grouper, a bus size Potato Bas taken by our own Bluflu at Bassas last year on a STickbait and a 9ft "Yellow Tail" set up, built for him by Enigma. Bear in mind that Franz ( Blu Flu ) is about 6'8" or more, so he dwarfs pretty much anything and the pic doesn't do justice to the size of the fish... certainly one of the most incredible captures I've been witness to... on that tackle, was truly amazing, and a fantastic effort and bout of skill on Franz "Impact Player-Grouper Slayer" Hirschbergs part! ![]() Last edited on Mon Feb 20th, 2012 11:03 am by Nepptune |
