Hi All,

I just wanted to introduce myself. Been lurking for a while and have been learning a lot from all the posts - thanks very much to all the posters out there.

I have spent most of my life as a fly fishing fanatic but have recently been convinced to take up rock and surf fishing by another sealine member (Sharkskin) and am enjoying it immensely. Although freshwater fly fishing will always be my first passion, I really like the change of pace that fishing from the beach provides.

So far I only have one eagle ray of about 10kg to my name, caught on my first all nighter at macassor two weeks ago. I am determined to improve on that and am spending at least some time each weekend on the beaches in false bay or melkbos areas.

I guess the more that i am learning, the happier i am so it is pretty cool to be bottom of the food chain wrt rock and surf fishing. Hopefully in the future i will be able to contribute constructively to this site, or at the very least hopefully dumb luck will allow me to post some pics of some good sized catches.

Hope to see some of you out on the cape beaches.
Cheers
Grant

p.s. Here's a pic of my only catch so far:

Cheers for the welcome OFC.

We had a bit of a blitz that morning and two of our rods went down one after the other. First was a mate who had passed out on the beach with his arm around the rod spike. It was a bit of a violent awakening when the rod started going mental, and obviously pretty damn amusing to the rest of us as he tried to get to his feet! As he was releasing his eagle of about the same size as mine (also first), my rod went down. Very exciting stuff and a good jol!

hehe - It was an artlure slide! ;)

Nah I was using a whole chokka on a slide trace. The "Artlure" part you can see is the glow in the dark skirt i was using on the trace.

That eagle was a hungry little bugger then!:ssswim: Good to hear from you, hope to see some good photo's from you in the future!

Next time get pic's of your mate passed out by the rod, i'm sure it would get some good laughs!!::rm

Problem is it is usually me being photographed in fishy situations, but i'll be sure to keep snapping while they sleep....

And a well deserved catch at that!

A quick intro from my side if I may. A seriously humble and marvelous guy to fish with, but make no error, this man can hold his own in the best of company when it comes to fishing. Grant is one extremely dedicated angler and with WP colours for fly fishing already under his belt and now the R&S scene that lies before him, I think we can expect to see great things from this outstanding angler. Here's another photo of the man in action. Welcome to Sealine Grant!

Hehe - Cheers Chris! That is kinda cute, except where you see his tail trying to stick me!

The only thing that worries me is that since I bought my surf stick it seems all the fish in the cape have disappeared! My fishing buddies are starting to grumble in my direction!

Well blow me down if its not Mr Keiser in the House!!!

Nice to see you over here with us plebs Grant!! :)

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Seems like the R&S bugs gotten you nicely, good tosee.... too much flyfishing only softens a mans brains and turns his nose skyward in my opinion... HAHAHA!! Probably why I've made myself pretty scarce on the other site.... and I've just ot had the time to fish really.... too much damn work!

Grab Mr.Cox and Master Smith and we'll head out for a session sometime soon, when I'm not working 18 hours a day 7 days a week, and get all us feather chuckers onto the beach together and see about hooking some fish while we talk k@k and drink beer....

Welcome mate.
