Jet Ski launching at Durban Ski Boat Base.

Us jetski fishermen have been praying for the 'Green Light' from the Port Captain to launch from Vetchies for quite some time now.  It might be just around the corner. :holding thumbs:

This weekend was the Racetech breakfast run.  It was a good turnout of around 50 jetskis.

I never thought I'd see the day. (this was only just over half the fleet)

The guys got their PWCs ready for the launch.

Our host, Patrick, from RaceTech lead the pack to the start.

Once everyone had gathered outside Limestone Reef, they were off!

This is great news. Hilton Kidger from durban ski boat club phoned me on friday to give me the good news. I have been bugging him since last year for permission to launch. I just hope the jetski cowboys to mess it up for us. One of the conditions is that you have to be a member of Durban ski boat club. I hope everyting is finalised by the end of the month as I will be in Durban sometime in February.

Tyson,

All but one of all the guys were very well behaved.  This one chap was tearing up and down through the fleet while we were waiting for the 'Ok' to go.  He was doing donuts, jet-spraying other riders etc. (all those things they love to do at Hazelmere Dam).  I just hope this has not already ruined it for us, as one of the officials on the beach said they were watching him from the tower with absolute shock!

We had a Law Maker:-

I was afraid of that this might happen. I am sure that the okes who are serious about fishing will obey all rules and regulations.Have u been fishing lately? I am comming down sometime next month and hoping to launch at Durban ski boat club if we are given the green light.

Kind Regards

Tyson

Yes I have Tyson, but not as much as I would like to. Remind me closer to the time and we can meet up and get those reels screaming.

HI Guys,
My first comment on the site...unfortunatley a sad one concerning the above subject!
I recognise the "Law Breaker" on the pic,who was actually in the DSBC upstairs pub just before noon with a few mates, but with only his costume & open life jacket over his shoulders!!....needless to say there were a few nasty comments from the members about this, as the dress code is relaxed, but you need to wear at least a T-shirt!
These okes are going to cause the very problems that everyone is dreading!!

The a$$hole in question was busy assisting launching all the boats and missed the briefing. At the briefing, everyone was told to inform anyone breaking the rules.

And yet 50 jetskiers watched in awe as he performed at sea.

No one suggested he stop.

AnotherBob,

FYI

1. Yes, he did help some of his Hazelmere buddies without 4X4's.
2. No, he was at the briefing because he still made a comment about Patrick from RaceTech making money out of jetskiers. (Doink! You think?)  LOL
3. I flagged him down when I got out to the holding area, and asked him to stop.  That's how I managed to get the photograph. ;)

Which ski were you on AnotherBob?
