Ashen,

I would love to answer you but my advice would be 20 years out of date.

I would start with no limit credit card, then a rod n reel, some lures and NO bait.:p

While you're waiting for johanvc & LGF visit these links n feast your eyes.

Like LL said, a no limit credit card, a rod and a reel, no seriously, all you really need is a NEED TO HUNT, first of all, I would suggest hooking up with one of us who does LGF hunting and use one of our rigs and first see if you like it, then we can talk about, which rod, length, action, application and type you feel most comfortable with, then the reel will go the same way, and this will all be chosen in your financial framework and then lures, for the now season, you can stock up on some summer lures later...

Really the best way to start is to join us on one of our hunting trips, use one of our rigs (your welcome to try one of mine) and then decide yay or nay, and if its yay then we'll take it from there, if it's nay then it wouldn't have costed you a single cent except for the juice from jhb to pta and from there on to where we're going hunting and back.

Let me and the rest of the guys know and we'll tell you when next we're going out, so that you can join.

Winter is seriously tuff fishing. And your catch numbers are seriously down. But when they do come they nice big fish

Ashen,

A boat serves a few purposes when hunting lgf's.

1. gets you to places you couldn't reach from the bank.
2. lets you swim your lure from shore to boat.(the natural direction for "food" to come from)
3. (My personal fav:D) lets you cast into tough spots with confidence because you know that you can get the boat right up to the reeds / tree that has just grabbed your lure and free it.

I can't tell you how many times i have gone swimming for a fav lure.:?

Can’t agree with you more and you are also not limited to just fishing one spot. You have the whole dam to your disposal. Can’t wait to get my boat as she should be ready in the next month or so. It went in for carpeting yesterday. Who wants to see a pic?

Details: Bass Seeker 480, We fitting a 200HP Merc motor but not sure of the rest as we only working out now what size troll motor to fit and what fish finders to fit as well. The boat was custom built ( Meaning they  did minor changes for us to accommodate the bigger motor)and will have a Hot foot. So no pushing an arm to drive. It will work the same as a car with a gas pedal. So fuel consumption will still depend on how heavy my foot is going to be :). I know yesterday they were going to do the carpets and start fitting all consoles. So they should be almost done next week. Then it’s just the rest of the stuff they need to do then we get the boat. Then we start fitting jack plate and the rest of the stuff. So if all works out I will have the boat on the water by the end of the month ::H Happy days

Well congrats so far, I'll steal a peek next time I visit Danie...  You probably have large ROOI MIERE in your pants by now....

The boat is not standing at Danie. He is getting the boat build by guys in Benoni Escape boating or something like that for me. Then we should get it in two weeks or so then the boat will go to Danie’s other shop in PTA to get all the stuff fitted and so on. I am like a child that knows what toy he will be getting for birthday. Dam I can’t wait. We will be going again next week Monday then most of the stuff should be done then I will take pics with the digi cam

Well that is what my boat looks like just in different colors and the length on his is 5.2 meters and mine is 4.8 meters. But mine is just as wide as his. Was just informed that we can’t get the 200Hp merc so we going after a 175 Johnson.  Because there are No 200Hp second hand available :(

If you want a real motor on the back, we can always rip out that 4.5l straight six cylinder motor from the L/C but then you'll need some sort of flaps to stop.... hehehe

You guys was not joking about a no limit credit card…

How much does a boat like that set u back if you don’t mind me asking?

Ashen

I've heard of guys that get a reasonable bass-boat for under R40k, but they are very scarce, the avarage price fot something like that I think is in the regions of anythying between R90k up to about R328K, Which is why I bought DADUCKY, motor, batt and fishfinder included, R8k, will get myself a more expensive 1, 1day when i'm a big boy....
