Barbel on lures are great fun, I had good success at Florida Lake, and also Emmarentia dam, although they are a long way from you, lol!

So i went out to one of the closeby farm dams last night, the dam was drained to about 50% over the weekend, so all the fish are closeby, i started out throwing a salmo hornet 4 from the bank and saw some barbel turn in the distance, i needed a slightly heavier lure so i tied on a Salmo Butcher in black with yellow polka dots, the water is extremely muddy and i knew this was the lure for these conditions, is started stalking them throungh the mud and came within casting distance.... Waited for the gulp and swirl and put the lure 1m behind and started my retrieve, my line went slack as the fish grabbed the lure and came straight towards me, i kept my cool and just let it come and as soon as it turned around i tightened up. FISH ON

after a 5min fight i landed my pb fish on lure 3.66kg!!!

A very bad quality photo, but here it goes

Well done Deon, remember what I told you long ago,if you go and try 30 times and dont catch ,then you know 30 ways of not doing it and 30 ways of what conditions should not be like.Other guys may still have to work on their 30 ways before they find a way that works for them.

Well done again,om grotes te vang is niks meer effort as om daardie een te vang nie,so wees net so trots op hom.lol Jy het jou kant gebring ,dis die dammetjie wat ge-onderpresteer het.::S
