Hi all

I've dived Gerrick's Point in Sedgefield quite often shot a few Baardman, cracker. I usually dive off the  bay side off the point. In recent years i haven't seen much decent fish there anymore and i'd like to try some other spots between Knysna and George. I won't have a boat so shore entry sites would be good.

Please could you give me some ideas of other dive sites, if possible indicate what tide etc produces the best results, and give good desription of how to get to the dive sites.

Thank you and have a good christmas

Hi Sheldon,
You can try Vic Bay - jump in at the point, and swim right. If you swim a long way right, it gets much better for cracker. Also Harkerville, very good for cracker, but a brute of a walk up and down the mountain. Last close one is Plett - go past the airport, and down to the coast, and you can get in there and swim right, also very nice area. If you want to travel a bit further, you can go to Nature's valley, but it needs to be pretty flat for there - actually much the same for all those areas.
Good luck!
Cheers,

Tony

Hi Tony

Thanks for the info, I've heard of guys diving at Vic bay, but never dived there i'll give it a bash.

Have you heard of shark's point at Knysna? If you're facing the heads it's on the right hand side  outside of the heads obviously, about 100m down. I hear there is a steep drop off with pinnacles pretty close in?

The name sounds a bit ominous but hey! Have you heard of it?

I would recommend having a reel gun because if you are hunting cracker you will be close to the breakers and you don't want your float washing up on the rocks while a set comes rearing in... i only say this out of experience. I will be in the area from about the 27 Dec till 2Jan if you want to come dive with me just send me a message. I know of a few spots that we can explore...

My folks have a place in George so I dive in the area. There are spots all over the place, alot of it depends on Swell and vis. Gerike's is still a good spot, Vic is also good, Herolds is also a spot worth checking...when are you going to be there?
Vic is great because the entry and exit is normally easy, so it's a good place to start.
regarding Plett... try right next to BI on the left and swim around, some nice cracker..

Hi

Going to mosselbay for the December holidays, looking for spots or people to go shooting with. Been at it for two months now.

I take it my O/C will be to hot for the warm water... any ideas? maybe mixing sum of my old wetsuits with O/C

Hi Braai Legend

Water around the garden Route is a lot warmer than CT but still can get quite chilly. I say rather a bit warmer than freeze your arse off. You're more than welcome to join us if you keen for a dive. email me on sdbarnett@vodamail.co.za we can exchange numbers.

Regards

To get to Vic Bay, Drive towards Wilderness from George, before Kaaimans pass, you will see the turnoff to Vicbay on your right hand side of the road
