My quest for a biggie continues...

every now and then all the "obsessiveness" and effort pays off and one is rewarded.

Was at one of those "private" venues (near Rustenburg) last week, and managed to land a new personal best again... this time its a 15,8kg beaut!

J, the dentist caught his biggie there... ;)

Ryan, I'm impressed man. Never thought you'd be so up-to-date with carping news, lol...! I was waiting for the 90lb mark to be broken by these Europeans... they pump those fish full of food year-round... no wonder they grow like sh*t, lol!!!!

yep, I'm now after that 40lb'er... Now thats a flippin challenge and a half! Where does it end? I doubt it ever ends... but I tell you what, I'll be enjoying all the 30's on the way to that 40, hehehe!!!!! My main goal with my fishing is to improve my Pb, BUT i have to say, carp fishing to me is also about something else. Being consistent. I know guys that have just started carp fishing and caught a 40pounder on their first session... but that does not make you a good carp angler. I believe that sort of thing is mainly luck. I believe one should measure success in specimen carp fishing by how consistent an angler is over a period of time, at catching big carp. And then also the Pb thing.....   just my thoughts on it, lol.!

Well done on an awesome fish there MadCarper. A stunning fish at what seems to be a beautiful bushveld venue! Keep them coming!

I must agree with you on the point of consistency. At any given moment you can hook into a 30 or 40lb fish, but the true measure of a successful angler lies in his ability to land the fish he is targeting on a regular basis, not by luck but through skill. The only bit of luck involved is the size of the fish which gets landed.

That's my 2c...

Very true Duane. I believe that when you start out, you rely heavily on luck to catch fish... but as you learn and progress, you start to rely more on skill and knowlegde and less on luck... and when you are at the top of your game, luck plays only a tiny role in your success.... just my opinion on it.... By the way, i'm still in the middle somewhere... probably 80% skill/20% luck, lol!!!!!
