Good Day,

I have came across many anglers that are making a living off of fishing.

I would like to know where I could go if I should land a decent size Cob and would like to sell it. (for an extra income)

Thats if I should get lucky,

Will appreciate any info given. Thanks

Just advertise it here on sealine its the best place or local whatsapp and facebook groups. You should get a drone it helps a lot for the big fish.

As far as I know you need to be a commercial fisherman to sell any fish! So a license is required.

Allowing anybody to sell fish as they wish will add to the already huge pressure on our fast disappearing fish stock! I am thinking aloud here and think that if you catch one kob and manage to sell it, it will not stop at one. Eventually it will become as many as you can catch per day!

Keeping to the allowed daily limits (rather less) is the way to go (for you own consumption)! Taking one for the braai is encouraged.

I know we are all struggling financially. Lets all try our best to assist in conserving our beautiful Kob etc. population for future generations!

Think about your question in terms of the number of social fishermen there are and put that in perspective.

Pls don`t encourage other fishermen to start selling fish.

howzit man- you are not allowed to sell your catch at all, as you are a recreational angler. (as per your permit).
all the other guys selling their Kob illegally are poachers. all of them.
From the guys at macs ledges to the ouens at Broken road. pooooaaaacccchhhheeeerrrrssss.
and its all guys with money that is uitgevreet for more money, and puytting pressure on our Kob stocks. catch your fish and enjoy it. if you want to make money from fishing, then rather stop fishing, as it is allready a vrek expensive sport.

Very well put Stinkmossel. I find it hard to believe that an ethical recreational fisherman would even contemplate selling his catch. Sad times we live in.

Wait wait, I need to know. Is this being unaware (ignorant), a joke, or just plain carelessness?

Gotta go down as the bravest comment of the year either way though :hyst:
