Hi there folks, my first post so be patient with me!

I'm a novice Spear diver, I also have one of those inflatable paddle boards and was wondering if anyone uses them for outings with the speargun. My immediate concern is obviously the risk of the pointy end meeting my fancy lilo...

thanks
J

I know of some people that go spearfishing with fishing kayaks and one guy that uses a waveski, but haven't seen a sup, but cant see why not it shouldn't work as long as your careful. People go spearfishing off rubber ducks so. Where are you worried to puncture it? If its on top maybe just get a sheet of perspex or something and cut it to size

I’m planning to take my SUP out spear fishing this summer, but it’s not inflatable and we have large kelp forest where I can anchor it.

A few issues you will have to deal with are the punctures from the gun and also the fish. You will have to think about an anchor system. Also, what weight is the SUP rated, all the extra gear might make handling difficult, especially if the wind picks up.

Consider that if something goes wrong, I.e. puncture, you will still have to swim back so be smart about choosing you’re spots.

Not trying to sound negative, but safety first always.

An inflatable with your sharp spear and the fins from your speared fish sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Invest in a cheap kayak or fiberglass stand up board

My thought.
