What is the best hook snoot thickness when fishing for Steenbras? Is fluorocarbon a must?

LOL I dont even think that flourocarbon was available during the steenie heyday when the population was collapsed, so no it is not a must, never used it myself for that?!..Guys used to go out at plett at night with skiboats and just freegaff the jumbo adults, there were so many tailing behind the backlines decades ago..or at least those are the stories that I have heard. I use a hook snood of 0.6mmto 0.7mm for them, others might disagree..I prefer longer snood and stiffer line hence 0.7mm.

Ja more wash and I go thicker as less tangles with stiffer trace, then fish less likely to see the trace anyway..I go target them at night also so it makes no difference, could use a 1mm hahaha, i get them in the bricks also as gallie bycatch and then its so foamy they cant see in front their nose anyway. In that case its 0.8 or .7 mm standard rock snood for me as I'm expecting them and crackers and others to pick me up in between the gallies too.
