Hi all,

I'm in the process of rebuilding a 18ft6 butt cat and am looking at a suitable set of "starter" outboards so long.

I've come across a pair of 60hp 2 stroke Mariners (1992 models I think judging on the serial no. and online charts ).

I'm a little unsure of the shaft lengths and if they would be a good match with my butt cat once she is rebuilt. I will attach a picture and hopefully someone could shed some light or has a set of the same motors and can comment on them.

does seem to be quite short.
are they not short shafts?

I think some guys also used extra long shafts on but cat (sure I read it some where, I think the transom was raised??????)

so if they are long shafts and will fit, y not for time being

I think they are "standard" length as termed by mariner and that's a 20" shaft.

If what I was reading on the internet matches up with these motors.

I won't be to hasty with buying motors though going to shop around a while longer still...
