Size caparison between Shimano XTB LC5500 and the DL1000

Do anybody have both? I would love to see how they compare size wise. I am about to pull the trigger on the LC5500 but cannot get one in my hands at my local shops in Bloemfontein.

I have had both the DL and Ultegra 5500 XSC and they about the same size in line cap. They both of great quality reels so I would say the biggest question to yourself is do you prefer baitrunner or do you prefer the clutch at the front? I would say that the baitrunner is better suited for papgooi and the ultegra for specimen although you could use either for whichever. Why do I say the Ultegra is better for specimen? Well for me its the fact that it is easier to reel in larger leads with the single handle of the ultegra than with the smaller double handle of the DL period! Also, the line lay on Ultegras are better and would possibly gain you a few meters in casting...Then one also has to look at the price difference as ultegra is prob more or at least double the price. Both the reasons you mentioned is valid.
I sold my Penn reel recently just because i dont want to use standard reels anymore.
All my reels must be baitrunners, and I prefer the drag on the front, only because it will then be simular to all my other reels.

I may have made a mistake...The baitrunner LC5500 is a baitrunner and I have no experience in them...

This reel, the XTB LC5500, does it come with a spare spool?

I just received mine today from the courier, but it only has one spool. I want to make sure before popping the supplier a mail.

The XTB5500LC does not come with a spare spool, if not mistaken, none of the shimano bigpit baitrunners available in south africa are sold with spare spools.

Cool, thank you. I did not wait and did send the supplier a mail allready. Included was 2 pairs of line savers that just clip onto the reel. I then thought since there are two pairs there must be two spools.

Yeah an extra spool would have been a decent add-on to include to make it worthwile to upgrade ftom the XTA's???
