New spinning reel care and maintenance

Hi everyone

I am purchasing a Daiwa BG 5000 which I will mainly be using for shore based spinning.
I know some guys like to open up a new reel right out of the box to oil, grease and lubricate the parts. Is all that really necessary or is it a bit too much?
I always take good care of my tackle so I would like to get the most out of the new reel.
What do you guys think in terms of oiling/ greasing a brand new reel?
What oil and grease do you recommend?
Any other advice to increase the lifetime of the reel is also welcome :)!
Thank you in advance!

With the Daiwa BG's you have to service them before using it for a prolonged time. The white grease they use in them tend to get very sticky/dry over time and you never know for how long your reel has been sitting at the suppliers and then at the tackle shop before you got it. I had my BG6500 serviced by a reputable guy in my town and I can honestly say that my reel were smoother after the service than when I took it out of the box. My reel has been splashed a few times and dunked once by accident when I waded out a bit and not a single drop got inside, and if it did I knew it was protected by the correct grease. All I do is rinse it off with water and then just wipe it off with a damp soapy cloth. Then I just use some gun oil that I found laying around on the roller bearing, bail arm joints and the handle to stop any corrosion from happening.
