I am planning a trip next year for 2 weeks. Only problem is i do not know where to go. Unfortunatly i cannot do any fishing off a boat as i get extremely sea sick. So want to pack some spinning gear and find an awsome venue that will off a wide of rock and surf. I have considered the following venues

Zanzibar
Bazaruto
Maritius
Seyshells
Transkei

But i am really keen on a island or very tropical place. Ill target anything but probably edibels as ill be flying e with 2 rods and a few pouches of artificials.

Any suggestions?

panama
angola
namibia
costa rica
bolivia
ghana

zanzibar and mozam not great from shore, too much local pressure..transkei decent but you dealing with the same depressed or collapsed stocks that you are in the rest of the country..

My mate threw plugs off a random beach in central america once on a surf trip and countless roosterfish started climbing on..untouched fisheries you can throw anything out there and it will get chowed..

Rock & Surf.... Look no further, Google "Chidenguele" Mozambique, not a long drive from where you stay as per your info.

Reasons ...u can do (1) Rock & Surf (2) Pure beach fishing (sandy beaches) (3) Reef hopping (4) Gulleys + Pools (5) Snorkel for crayfish / occies + spearfish, without having to leave / cross the outer reefs... Look on google maps, if you know how to reads charts / maps you will note the reefs runs parallel with the shore / coastline. Now, another good pointer is that you can fish various spots on low / high or mid tide...so many options!!!!

Type or styles of fishing:

a) Drop Shot... lots of fun
b) Chucking some lures + poppers (light or heavy)
c) Scratching (Walk and Stalk)
d) Old Skool - beach fishing with bait
e) Sliding
f) Throwing live baits

Fresh bait in abundance if you know what to look for or buy from the locals - cheap..

You can fish at night, you don't need a pistol and a security guard like in SA....

Why so? Why am I marketing this area, simply because I fished it many times...

You will find various types of fish...Serra (Couta) from the beach yes - I have had luck, GT, Snapper, Stumps, Rock Cods and Sharks is you target them.... loads of other fish too...

Seychelles, Mauritius, Angola I only did deep sea fishing.... Angola yes good for sure, but a long drive and a mission to ge there.

Transkei (Port St. Johns) will be my second option, however I haven't been there for +/- 18 years or more.... Bazaruto is for deep seafishing....

Zanzibar, been there, no shore fishing - only locals on boats....

Choice is yours

If you are keen for a bit of adventure and have a fair budget try Tanzania, especially the southern part Mtwara / Lindi (trip cost would be similar to Zanzibar and you can view similar historical place in Mikindani). It's an often overlooked destination and not much sports fishing happens there. Google the places a bit, there are mouth watering prospects for fishing, deep river channels with sand spits that should produce good fishing and on low tides you can go to the reef edges and fish the deep water drop-offs. The people are also super friendly and it's way safer than South Africa. Same species as Mozambique.

I would forget everything on your list. Overfished.

If in Africa, Gabon or Angola or if you really want to push it, Ascension.

Not so, there's some hidden - shore fishing gems in Moz, as I mentioned - Chidenguele... various reasons: (1) Impossible to do netting (reefs / rocks / water depths) (2) Not many commercial outfits - if at all nowdays.... of course - nightly visits from "foreign trawlers"

Wouldn’t look any further than Flamingo Bay in Angola. Would also try make a trip to the Cunene. Best R&S I have ever experienced, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed...

The good news about Angola now days is that, you (S. African) don't require a visa anymore, it changed in Dec 2017, in the past it was rather difficult, or lets say a time consuming exercise.
