Line Clipping

Hi guys,

So recently I started clipping my line at my desired fishing distance. I would like to know, do you keep the clip on once you cast out? What happens when a fish takes line? or what is the best practice?

I am just wondering, because its a process to mark the line, cast, re-clip the line, reel out and cast again.

Your response would be really helpful :)

Thanks for the reply.

Do you then cast in again to re-clip on your mark, reel back in and cast again?

I am just wondering what the best process would be.

If you are fishing water with really big carp rather not clip.
If you fish water with normal sized carp, clip.

just make a mark on your line where you clipped just in case you have to unclip due to a bigger carp picking up your bait

you get distance sticks in specimen angling for this very reason. Personally I would never leave my line clipped up. Even if you are fishing for smaller fish you may never know when that one big one can come along and rip off
