Estuary combo

Hi all

What does your estuary spinning setup consist of? I'm using a 7ft Daiwa Laguna rod paired with size 2000 Daiwa Laguna spinning reel. As a back up reel I always carry a size 2500 Shimano Sienna in my spinnig bag. On the Laguna reel I have 10lb JD braid, while I spooled the Sienna reel with 10lb Suffix Gyro braid. On both reels I have clear 0.45 Adrenaline leader, joined to the main line by means of FG knots.

Lures that I always take with on a spinning session include a GT Ice Cream plug, Rapala Skitter V, Heddon Zara Spook, Storm So Run, various spoons, some paddle tails and my recently acquired CID Shiversticks.

My biggest leerie to date is a roughly 62cm specimen that put up a massive fight on my Laguna combo.

My setup consists of a Daiwa Laguna 6.6ft rod paired with a Shimano Sienna 2500 spooled with 8lb Daiwa J-Braid. I change my leader depending on what I'm targeting on the day, so I use 0.45 Kingfisher leader line or 0.30 Adrenalin clear mono. Both tied using an FG knot. And then my setup I don't care for much and that catches almost all the fish when using bait, an Okuma Fin-Chaser 6ft combo with some old mono (kannie dood setup, dropped it the water a few times already and still going).

Lures I usually take along with me include Berkley Ripple Shad paddletails along with a few jigheads, Berkley Jerk shad, Z Killer topwater lures in different sizes and colours, few small bucktail jigs, spoons and small plugs.

Still trying to figure out grunter on topwater, I get a few swirls behind the lure, but no commitment.

My go to combo's for lure fishing the estuary are a
7 ft 1 - 3 kg rod with a 1000 stradic running 2 lb braid 4 lb leader

My second one is a 7 ft 2 - 4 kg rod with a 2500 stradic running 4 lb braid 6 lb leader

Wide selection of plastics , vibes , stick baits , poppers and spoons.

My favourite setup is an Assassin Sabre UL with maxreel 500
And 7ft Shimano Scimitar with maxreel 2500

Lots of soft and hard plastics, plugs etc

A Shimano Sustain on the Assasin UL is magic, borrowed a friend's reel to test the combo.
