Mercury 115hp

Hi i bought a Acecraft with a 115hp mercury on it..carb model. The owner disconnected the autolube system.What are your thoughts..should i stay with pre mix or connect the auto lube again?

I'd guess if the auto lurbe has been disconnected it's probably suspect. Premix although a bit of a hassle at least you'll know you're getting oil into the bearings and Pistons.

He said that he has been doing it to all the motors he had..he dont trust auto lube.Decent old toppie so i believe him. If its safer and wont compromise reliability and the internals of the motor then ill premix. Its not that much of a hassle

Premix is 100% safe if you remember to do it.
Auto lube if it gets blocked by something/ one of the pipes perishes and leaks out or anything else goes wrong you have no lube in the affected cinders and that will cause damage.

The auto lube systems are generally safe but like anything mechanical/electrical when they fail you may not know it till its too late.

We are running the auto lube on my dads boat but the oil level gets checked after every use to make sure it is using oil.
