Upgrading of memberships

Hi guys
How does the membership status work? I have been a member for a long time with a couple of posts. Any chance for a upgrade?

I understand the admins is busy and time is money. We all complain the forum is going silent. But a little reward goes a long way.

Well im not fighting. You could make mine a sprat member. I will still remain a sealiner. As i got plenty oc info on here and have plenty to share.
Keep up the good work Admins. Lets show the whattsapp groups a thing or two.
Regards
Malboer

Hi guys. In the early days, when we had members in their hundreds online at any given moment, 'upgrades' or 'promotions' were given to members as recognition for their contributions towards the general knowledge base and value added to the forum. We sometimes also had heated discussions about given topics and angling clinics and get-togethers of Sealiners happened frequently. We even had so-called 'birthday bashes" that were attended by members from all over the country. We even established an angling club that still exists in the Cape, the Sealine Social Edibles Club: Western Cape (SSEC:WC).
Unfortunately some discussions became arguments and even personal. Several moderators left the forum, some even creating their own alternative angling forums. Some successful and others not. In the process members stopped posting and many of the older members left the forum altogether.
I must admit that I too only pop in every now and again to check whats happening. Its gone very quiet compared to the early days, but still remains being an invalueable source of information to any angler.

100%

Not sure how it work now days? Back in the day.... like 10yrs ago, it was, more less people assisting others... giving tips... tuts (tutorials)... in depth explainations... Trip Reports etc... your tally of posts did not count, as anybody could post / reply a 1000 times... "good catch" - "mooi vis" etc... Likewise, I agree most Forums are dead, since the w/app + FB groups took over... the criteria at present? I don't know?

But I agree with MALBOER, he's given nice trip reports + tips ... and progress on his boat etc... So yes....

Valid point Malboer, irrespective of what who says.
The site was crested with those rules or standards, & now after years if the standards are not applicable then it should be repealed.
And a big yes to more Mods & Admins like the past to have balanced opinions, descicions & outcomes.
If we neglect the smaller issues, it will lead to a silent death of SL eventually.
