I was taking drive in the Richards Bay harbour (Naval Island) this morning and i saw the water boiling about 10 to 20mtr from the shore. They moved off a little deeper after a while. Dont know what it was but someting was chasing it all over.

I also came acros this beautiful Kingfish someone caught and just left there on the beach!!! What a waste!!:headb

What a waste of a stunning fish. Could it have washed up? looks like something was having a feeding frenzy! Looks like fun!

I saw the saw thing at the short pier last week, tried in vain with the spoon, only to hook into some and then loose it, apparentlty it could be small bonies

those fish boiling on the surface are razor bellies. they come into rcb harbour every winter. Following them usually are garrick and huge kob. However these fish only show up in july. So until then the razor bellies are safe.::H

I think it's this one... Razor fish/Shrimp fish - swims upside down and feeds on plankton and midwater amphipods.

that is not the fish im talking about. Razor belly might be its common name. It looks like a shad with a very thin and sharp belly section. They make excellent live bait as they stay alive for along time. You catch them with a makeral jig(yozuri). Catch them 3 or 4 at a time. They  make a grunting sound once they out the water.:fswim

I think I finally found the fish ... looks a little like a shad... according to Fishbase, the one found in SA is Alepes djedaba... the Shrimp Scad, otherwise known as Razorbelly scad. Is this it Shaun?
