Pick a stick

Hi all

If you had to pick only one CID Shiverstick for fishing for predatory fish in both estuary systems and the sea, which one would it be?

I'd go for the glow pattern as it kinda looks like a mullet.

Cheers

I have had and still do most colours and over the yrs fished them all hard with mixed results, but my go to is surprisingly the uv orange . Its the most unnatural looking colour , but the fish cant seem to leave it alone.
Its the first lure i throw for shad and have had a lot of success using it up north on the different trevally species and queen fish.

Very interesting that they go for the orange. I saw on some website that the clear blue version is also producing nice catches down under. My next lure will be a CID Shiverstick for sure.

The clear blue one is awesome as the colours change with the angle of light going through it .... gets a purple sheen .

Have a look at the new range of shiver sticks as well , they have also brought out the 65mm/11 gram one and the larger 160mm/85 gram .
They are awesome lures and can be fished through out the water columns depending on your retrieve and target species.
I have not tried the bigger model yet , but the little one casts like a bullet and has already claimed a few different species as its the little "snack" size.

I saw those little Shiversticks in the tackle shop last week. They look very durable. More so than the small Storm stickbaits (So-Run) I've caught a few leeries on last year. After landing six or so leeries on the Storm the paint has already come off. That Storm lure is deadly though.

First ask yourself what you want to catch and copy/use what the guys use who seem to catch the most of which ever, where you fish..that's how my hit rate got significantly better.

So what are you trying to catch?

:whisp Big elf, but most people who fish where I fish catch them on sardine. I want to catch a big one on lure. Maybe I should stick to sardine patterns ::tight:

Check the shad off florida in the states, a youtube search for bluefish. Malheid! The result of 15-20 years of strict management. A lot of the fisheries there were in the collapsed state ours are in, back then, and they did something about it and now are reaping the rewards with fishing that we don't even imagine should exist here. In the old days for example there was an oil industry to send fish oil to europe which was cooked from fish in huge iron cauldrons in Langebaan, the fish used was the massive shoals of 10-15 kg shad they used to net in the lagoon.
They implemented controls in florida and north in the states, from control of commercial netting of the bait fish to reduced catch limits and slot limits for recreationals and the fisheries have rebounded to better than what the ballies can remember it ever being..

Most of the mal videos in the search are recent-ish and it is because the fishing has now in the last few years there, gone all-time. The main thing to catching a fish is to throw your bait or lure in front of one, all the rest is either about predicting when he will be there and what he want to eat or landing him. With lots of fish it makes it easy for everyone, with few fish it makes is hard for all except the pro's. That is where fishing in SA is at the moment for most fish. In the above two video's it would not matter what you threw at them, they would eat a flashing hook if you threw it out there..

Very much the same deal in Oman, except for the fisheries management, which is sadly lacking. When the shad roll in over there it's a massacre.

Het n baba leerie laasnaweek op my Shiverstick gekry en n groter baba voor my voete verloor. Ook op die Shiverstick. Het heelwat chases gekry ook.

Het nog n baba op my Heddon Zara gekry, asook n gryp op my Rapala Skitter V. Die weer was maar sleg.

Hi Spook,
Where did you get the leeries. I tried Zandvlei on Friday, a few boils on top water at the island. Wind was gale though.

Pierre.
