Im currently trying to swop my Navionics Platinum card for the Garmin bluecharts 3g vision sd card or to sell it.

I recieved a message from a mate in my fishing club saying that Garmin has just purchased Navionics.

Being the sceptic i am, i contacted Garmin head office in JHB and had that confirmed.

My question now is what impact does this have on the end users.

Will they have a download for both SD cards so that they can be used in both lowrance and garmin products?

Will the best of the 2 SD cards be merged?

Will there be a swop out program employed?

Garmin JHB asked me to forward my queries to them via email and they have forwarded it to an international branch for a response.

Exciting times lay ahead

Garmins response

Good day sir

I forwarded the query to the Europe marine support team

Their feedback was to advise you to return your Navionics card and purchase a Bluechart card.

We would not be able to exchange one for the other, and it will be a long time until there is cross product functionality.

Apologies for the delay

Kind regards
