I have a fathom 12 which I'm pairing with Shimano 110h At the moment. Im struggling with line choice. I cant throw very far so 120m but im truggling with line capacity. is braid really the only way to go or is there thinner/stronger kilo rating mono out there. Dont really want to spend r600 on braid

OK...as light as possible...LOL, easier said then done, will you fish from the rocks? Otherwise, I would suggest max 15lbs nylon with braid back - just have to balance the amounts - nylon vs braid. Of course I will add a leader if I go with thin nylon.

No experience with Fathom 12 - but on my Torium 14 I have about 100m 0.2mm braid and then the rest is mono 0.40mm Kingfisher Gaint Abrasion.  Probably get about 200m total on that.  And then about 10m of 0.55mm mono leader if you can and if you fish reefs.

Check the oogies on your 110
They may appear to be ohk for a braid application but if not they will burn and damage your braid before your panties are dry!!

Braid definitely the better choice for that reel imho.

Look also for the Berkely Trylene range of lines, well priced for good quality nylon.

Dankie Baie. I was wondering yes about the eyes psy. I have an old penatgon light which eyes are still the old stainless steel guides without inserts. They look more braid friendly. Maybe I must switch reels on outfit penn 12 for Pentagon light and sl 30 for 110H?

Double check the spec of the eyes on the Pentagon Light, they are probably Pac Bay guides.

Check the frame on the eye to be sure, call Rob Gavin at Gremlins, or PM Enigma on this site, for further advice.

Rather safe than sorry as braid will cut into the inserts not noticeable to the human eye, can be determined by running a piece of fine cloth/cotton wool over the eyes to check for any cuts in the material.
