Grouper?

Sometimes very difficult to tell a Grouper apart from a Rockod. They are from different families and have a remarkable size difference.

I would hazard a guess of it being a very good sized Spotted Rockod, Definitely not a Cat Face! Even Groupers have spots on them. To really determine what it is would probably need some finer measures for an accurate ID for example dental structure, Gill structure scale count. It could also quite possibly be a Small be Brindle Bass. Just for interest sake they are a complete protected Species, like the Potato Bass.

Judging from the non protruding swim bladder the fish was caught shallow, or brought up slowly from the deep??

Its an excellent catch.

I am sure there will be a few members that could add to this.

Let's see what transpires.

Once again awesome catch.
