Has anyone been fishing the stretch of river between Swellendam and Robertson lately? I am heading back to SA end June for 4 weeks and would be keen to target a few decent size carp again. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I'm at Goudmyn the weekend and hope the river will be giving a reasonable chance to fish after the recent storm in the Western Cape.

All the feed, bait and tackle are ready, just hoping for decent water.

Not sure where that is. After the recent storm the river might be difficult to fish. Fished the Vaal after a rain storm, caught some good fish but conditions where really tough. I have fished a few venues on The breederiver and really love the place. Will stick to what worked last time I guess. Good luck your side and keep us posted.

Kambati on the Breede is a bit closer to CT and its a great campy campy venue.

Good sized carp for Breede, fish up river in front of the 'island' between the two main channels coming down rapids...

You can also try the Swellendam public fishing area, go on google earth and look for a picnic type spot about 3m upstream from where the rail bridge crosses the breede. (Just upstream from where the highway crosses the river before Swellies.

Use to hook 10 mirrors quick quick but there is the odd big carp around too. Big baits though as the tiny carp will drive u crazy. Only cast about 30m as mid river the rocks are crazy..
