What are thoughts on purchasing a boat with everything ,take the boat for a test ride and the steering stops working , after discussion friends suggest asking for 20k off the price to repair motors, admittedly boat had been standing for awhile and he could`nt sell it,we took the boat only to start recieving the items later.....,

Gps does not work
Furuno does not work
no winch
no anchor or rope
safty gear , flares expired 2014,
torches rusted and full of water,
ect ect ect
Best thing of all , almost everything above the hull rotten,

ON MY SIDE , the boat will be in the water within another month, we bought it in February 2017 , and thanks to Tri boating , its looking awesome. Ugan has gone out of his way to do everything that needed to be done ,

Should I just smile and walk away from this very nice honest chap that cost us a load of money , or should I be more :X

Trying to figure out the story here......

You bought a boat, took it for a test, steering system failed and when you got all the extras they were expired, or not working and to top it all a rotten hull????

I would definitely not have bought the boat. Not sure how much money u paid for it but it would of probably been a better proposition to shop around for a better deal.

A huge miscalculation???? The guy that sold u the boat must be a pretty good salesman.

Screaming at him probably would be by a waste of energy.

The boat looked very nice , nothing wrong ,Ive been on family boats for 36 years. It was only after the deck was lifted that everything was seen , its not about being a good salesman its more about being honest with something you are aware of , I had two other guys looking with me , if a boat builder could not see the problem , well then that was very good hiding stuff , all the extras came three weeks after we bought as he said he would drop them off , we just assumed he wouldnt screw us ..... He is very well known , runs a charter business.

Name and shame ! There's too many of these wankers out there and they keep on getting away with it. He can't sue you for telling the truth.

Go to the guy and request a level of compensation that would make you happy... If he refuses, tell him you will name and shame... If he still refuses, name and shame.

do you remember this tread of yours?

The owner of Shumwari Charters sold us this boat , we are still waiting for the buoyancy cert and a lot of stuff that was paid for or at least a phone call as to why he can`t give us the rest of the boats items ,or why he didn`t tell us the condition of it which we found out when Tri Boating removed the deck , Four months and still havent finished fixing it .Will send you a few pictures .

Would the seller definitely know that the hull is rotten?
Expired flares, non working electronics are obviously a no-brainer.

Yes its pretty hard to tell what going on below deck on your boat unless you have a decent amount of inspection hatches through your deck and even then its still pretty hard to see whats going on.

The only way to really know is by cutting a large piece of your deck out.

The previous owner might had signs by the way the boat would run and sit in the water, if the foam was waterlogged and that the boat was taking water.

Give us some details here Mouse:
was the foam waterlogged as well?
Any cracks in the hull?
What is the state of the keel and keelstrip?

With above deck rotten ply would normally come from owners making alterations or adding things and not sealing everything off.
