Can anyone please give me some advice about the barbel in Harties. In all the time there I have not caught one and only once did I see one come out and that was a small one. TIA

easiest place to catch them is at meerhof. day old chicks and platties, dead or alive works well, have not seen one bigger than 10kg myself in the last 5 years

Many many years ago a friend of mine caught a 30kg+ at Oberon. Myself 2 around 15kg about 5 years ago. Since then I haven't heard of anything special coming out.

But they must be around still!!

Not that many people target cats actively and if they do it is usually with small baits...

i think the majority of the larger barbel have either been netted or poached-whenever i've fished Harties,it is very common to find 100 kg line with a huge treble hook tied around a tree stump. There will be some biggies still around, but it is becoming similar to a specialist persuit trying to find them

I have heard rumors though of big boys being caught in the Crocodile river downstream from Harties.
